At this very moment, there are more than 20,000 people reported missing in California.

“I try not to think about it.” says Lynette Barbusca of Citrus Heights.

Barbusca’s sister, Teresa, went missing 13 years ago.

“She hopped in to a white van,” Barbusca told FOX40, “And was last seen outside of the Days Inn in Stockton in 1999. She was 16, I was 11.”

Teresa is one of 604 missing persons reported to date in Sacramento County alone.

“We never stop searching,” said a representative from the Department of Justice Missing Persons Division. “Most people are runaways or missing for unknown reasons, but we treat all of the cases the same way.”
