SACRAMENTO — The Sacramento Municipal Utility District reported around 31,000 customers without power Sunday night as roaring winds and heavy rain hit the region.

At least 370 power outages were scattered throughout Sacramento County and that number was steadily growing.
Tens of thousands of customers in Florin, North Highlands and the Arden-Arcade area lost power, according to SMUD’s map. More than 31,000 SMUD customers in the Elk Grove area were without power at one point and SMUD expected crews to restore power to the area by around 10 p.m.
We are experiencing scattered outages due to the weather. Please know that our crews are working hard to safely and quickly restore power. Our largest outages remain in the Arden, Elk Grove, North Highlands and Florin areas with restoration times lasting throughout the night.

The National Weather Service issued a Wind Advisory for the valley between Sunday afternoon and early Monday. Wind gusts of up to 60 mph were recorded in Sacramento, causing trees to topple.
The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District reports the countywide fire dispatch facility lost power.
Drivers heading to the Sierra were stopped at Colfax as the winter storm caused low visibility and spinouts along Interstate 80.
