It all started with a vision from the creators PJ Smith and Cervante Burrell. Both men are Sacramento natives who wanted to leave a footprint on their communities.

The two along with Pastel Rae, decided to create a web series called The Unforeseen.

So far, the trio has rolled out two shows and plan to roll out even more.
The focus, teens who faced real odds, despite their challenges have gone on to have real success.

The first episode shows Dashay Richmond a Sac High senior with a 3.87 GPA.

"Growing up I have seen my mom be abused,” said Dashay Richmond.

The way it works is teachers and school administrators submit names of deserving teens to The Unforeseen. The teens also submit an essay about their lives and what they’d love to do for an entire day.

With donations from businesses and from their own pockets, The Unforeseen makes it happen; the teens never see it coming.

“The idea of filming The Unforeseen is to bring light to the fact that kids in our communities are doing great things,” said PJ Smith, one of the creators of The Unforeseen. “We ultimately want the community and others to get involved to make this a nationwide movement.”

So far that involvement includes a host of restaurants and local organizations. Even Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson is supporting the web series and innovative idea.

“I think it’s really important for young people to give back, when they come from that community,” said Mayor Kevin Johnson. "To give back to the community that they are from is a very powerful statement.”

“The teens submit ideas of things they have never done before, but would like to do and we try our best to make it happen,” said Cervante Burrell, a Dean at Sacramento High School.

The Unforeseen is a new twist on giving back to teens, placing them in the limelight they never saw coming.
