A water main broke in El Dorado County on Monday morning, affecting residents in parts of Placerville and Diamond Springs, according to the El Dorado Irrigation District.

About 500 homes along Pleasant Valley Road and Oak Hill Road were affected. Those in the affected area had no water or extremely low water pressure.

The El Dorado Irrigation District sent out an automated message asking customers in the affected area to discontinue “nonessential water usage” including running dishwashers, washing machines, outdoor irrigation and car washing to ensure that the district would not run out of water.

The break is expected to be repaired by 8 p.m. Monday.
