SACRAMENTO–

Monday’s heavy winds knocked down several tree branches around Sacramento.

Late in the morning, a large branch fell onto a car at 9th and U streets. The car was parked, and no one was reported hurt.

A short time later, some branches fell onto power lines near Alhambra Boulevard and I Street. Alhambra was closed to traffic for a short time while firefighters responded and crews removed.

Power was knocked out for a short time at nearby Sutter Middle School, causing a student to briefly become trapped in an elevator, firefighters said.
