Seventy men and women with the Sacramento urban search and rescue team packed their bags and left for Oso, Wash. Wednesday.
The team has traveled to multiple disasters in the past including the Oklahoma City bombing and the 9/11 attacks. This time around, the group is bringing seven convoys filled with equipment.
Their goal is to aid other firefighters.
The Sacramento urban search and rescue team is made up of mostly firefighters, but some engineers and doctors from various local agencies including the Sacramento City Fire Department and Metro fire. The appointment will last 10 to 12 days.
