LODI –

The City of Lodi is considering requiring fees from fitness businesses that use public parks for workout classes.

The Lodi Recreation Commission discussed the possible fees at a meeting last night.  The discussion is still in the early stages, so no dollar amount was set and no vote was taken.

The fees would grant the businesses permits to host classes in the parks, similar to what are required for sidewalk food vendors.

Some workout leaders are concerned fees could hurt their ability to do business, saying they already pay for public park use with their tax dollars.

Both sides at Tuesday’s meeting sounded willing to work together on a solution.
