After serving the Elk Grove community for decades, David Walker, owner of Dalin Jewelers, says the store will close in a matter of months.

“This community has been fantastic. They have supported me for 35 years. The people are absolutely wonderful,” Walker told FOX40 Tuesday.

Declining foot traffic in the area and a changing jewelry market helped walker realize it was time to retire.

“It is time. You reach a certain point in your life. It is time,” Walker said.

“The first day I saw the [closing signs] up I sat in my car and cried,” said Walker’s daughter, Marlo Jordan.

Jordan has been working alongside her father helping him run the business.

Dalin Jewelers has been the longest standing jewelry store in Elk Grove.

“Everyone is friendly and I feel like I am being well taken care of,” said long-time customer Mark Irwin.
