WOODLAND —

It was announced Monday by District Attorney Jeff Reisig that a jury convicted Manuel Alejandro Guzman, 32, of two counts of child molestation.

Guzman was dating the mother of the 11-year-old girl he was convicted of molesting.

The molestation came to light when the girl’s mom found emails between Guzman and her daughter discussing some of the things he was doing to her.

During the trial, one of Guzman’s past girlfriends came forward and testified that he raped her when she was 18 years old.

Both victims were commended by Supervising Deputy District Attorney Michelle Serafin for bravely telling their stories.

The young girl was comforted throughout the trial by the Victim Services courthouse dog.

Guzman faces 10 years in state prison and is scheduled to be sentenced on August 12.
