Saturday night, close to 8 p.m., a 68-year-old female was approached from behind and hit in the back of the head by a suspect in the 1300 block of Travis Blvd.

When the victim fell to the ground her purse was ripped from her hands.

She suffered injuries to one hand and both arms.

Evidence found lead detectives to believe 27-year-old Richmond resident Alonzo Terrell Washington was one of the suspects responsible for the robbery.

On Monday, Washington was arrested after trying to flee when he was located at a home in the 200 block of South 7th Street.

Detectives found a loaded handgun in Washington’s pockets. He is now facing charges in both Richmond and Fairfield.

The suspect has an extensive criminal record in Solano, Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.
