FRENCH CAMP-
Family members are shaken up after a mother of three was shot and killed in her French Camp home Friday.
San Joaquin Sheriff’s deputies say the victim’s husband and father of the children, 37-year-old Juan Valdez, was arrested for homicide.
Deputies say he was standing outside the home and confessed it was an accidental shooting.
The woman was shot once in the torso.
“We were playing. We heard some yelling we didn’t really mind it and then we heard the gun shot,” said neighbor Jessica Navarro.
Navarro was playing outside with friends, two of the girls (the victim’s daughters) went back in their home.
Moments later, Navarro heard a gun shot.
“Five minutes later, the two little girls ran out and they went to their grandmas house which is a couple blocks away,” said Navarro.
Neighbors believe the two girls, ages 9 and 5, may have witnessed their mothers death. They also say the father was short tempered and had been seen arguing with his family a few days prior to the shooting.
Family members say the victim was a loving mother.
Everyone’s greatest concern is for the children now left without a mother.
“We went to school with them. They were the sweetest little girls. for something like that to happen to their mother is a really sad thing,” said Navarro.
