A single-engine Cessna 210 and a single-engine Hawker Sea Fury TMK 20 collided in midair over San Pablo Bay around 4:05 p.m Sunday, according to FAA spokesperson Ian Gregor.

While the Cessna crashed into the water, the Hawker pilot landed safely at Eagle’s Nest Airport at around 4:45 p.m. The Hawker pilot was uninjured, according to Gregor, who also tells FOX40 that investigators continued their search Sunday evening for the Cessna pilot.

“I think the pilot made the right decision to come all the way back to Ione and land the plane safely at Eagles Crest Airport” said neighboring pilot Nick Beck.

Beck told FOX40 both pilots were headed to an air show together in San Pablo Bay Sunday.

The Cessna plane is registered to brothers Brian and Dennis Sanders. Family members did not wish to speak to FOX40 Sunday.

The NTSB will be the lead agency investigating the crash.
