CERES—

Super Bowl fans enjoy America’s past time, and some celebrate by throwing a few back. Of course, I’m talking about enjoying an alcoholic beverage. There’s nothing wrong with that, but Ceres Police are a part of a DUI crackdown called “Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk.”

FOX40 was out riding with Ceres Police – and our cameras captured drivers going against the rules of the road.

“The reason I am stopping you; you made a U-turn, it’s posted no U-turn back at that light,” said Officer Keith Kitcher with Ceres Police.

Officer Kitcher is trained to look out for not just drunk drivers, but those who are on an illegal substance.

“I look to see if they make wide turns, hop a curb or ignore traffic signals,” Kitcher said.

The enforcement patrols are happening well into Monday morning. It’s your tax dollars at work, a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.

Officers in Ceres, Oakdale and Modesto are making sure you don’t throw a few back and get behind the wheel.
