Police out helping keep the streets clean arrested a man suspected of stealing a street sweeper late Saturday night.

According to Sacramento Police, officers out on patrol near Truxel Road and Brewerton Drive saw a street sweeper truck peel out of a parking lot and onto the street.

The truck promptly ran a red light – and didn’t have its headlights on – prompting the officers to try and pull the street sweeper over. However, police note, the driver pushed on and didn’t stop until he had hit three parked cars. The driver then bolted from the truck.

A police perimeter was set up in the area, but the suspected driver – 18-year-old Lavonn Dill – eventually surrendered himself to a K-9 officer.

Dill now faces charges of fleeing, possession of a stolen vehicle and hit-and-run charges.
