Wanted Man Breaks into Girlfriend’s Home, Gets in Standoff with Police

Police say a wanted parolee at large locked himself into a home on Connie Drive and refused to come out for several hours Monday night before surrendering.

Officers were originally called out because someone had reported a prowler shortly after 7 p.m. Police say a man broke into his girlfriend’s home. He reportedly held her against her will for a short time before letting her leave.

Homes along Connie Drive near El Camino Avenue was evacuated as a precaution.

After 11 p.m., SWAT officers began firing gas into the home. The man surrendered about 40 minutes later.
