As crews salvage what is left of a Carmichael daycare, residents say the neighborhood staple will never be the same.
“It has been there quite a long time. A lot of kids have gone through there,” said resident Sophia Stathos.
While 10 children took their afternoon nap, the attic at Wee Tymes Playshool caught fire.
“I do not know if we are going to have school tomorrow. I am upset about that. This school has just been the love of my life,” said daycare owner Danelle Ingaels.
Thanks to working smoke detectors and administrators who practice fire drills religiously, the children and infants made it out safely before fire crews arrived to the scene.
“That was a really fast response on the teachers part. I was very proud of them,” said parent Rose Rigsby.
