SACRAMENTO –

Suddenly there were signs of it all over the place.

“This is actually our fourth D.U.I. related call today,” Lt. Alisa Buckley of the Sacramento Police said Saturday.

The call at Stockton Boulevard and Fruitridge Road just after 5 p.m. was the most severe among them. Police say an elderly man was driving on the wrong side of the street northbound on Stockton. After he side-swiped one car, police say he kept driving until he rammed another car a block later and wrecked his own mini-van.

“Oh, he hit me two times. Boom. Boom,” said PJ Singh, pointing to the damaged rear-end of his car.

Two people, each from a different collision, were hospitalized. The driver was also hurt, but everyone is expected to survive.

“It’s dangerous to drive intoxicated anyway. But particularly in this case- it’s a very busy area at a very busy time of day,” Lt. Buckley said.

She said that police don’t think the four D.U.I. calls to the area Saturday evening were related.
