(CNN) —

The effects of Storm Sandy are still being felt throughout the country days later.

At least 50 people have died in the United States due to Superstorm Sandy. That brings the worldwide total number of deaths attributed to the storm to 118.

New York City’s Bellevue Hospital will evacuate the remaining 500 patients inside, according to an e-mail from a hospital group that was sent to New York area hospitals. Many critically ill patients were already evacuated, but about 500 remained. Numerous ambulances are lined up outside the hospital in preparation, CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta reports.
