Residents from Tehama, Yuba and Placer counties filled the room. Many wearing Tea Party shirts and decked out in red, white and blue.

The meeting started out with Mark Baird, the spokesman from the State of Jefferson movement.

“This can be done, it’s legal, it’s moral, and it’s ethical,” Baird said.

So far, Yuba, GlennSiskiyou and Modoc counties are on board.

The State of Jefferson would also include several southern Oregon counties.
