SACRAMENTO-
State Controller John Chiang says total revenues for January are $4.3 billion above estimates in Governor Brown’s proposed 2013-14 state budget.
Chiang revealed in his monthly cash balance report, released Friday, that more auto sales, rising home values and more construction are to thank for the revenue increase.
“It signals that California may be entering an era where we can govern outside of crisis,” Chiang said in a news release. He added that this news “must be temebred with increase fiscal discipline in how we interperet and budget January’s collections.”
