Father Dean McFalls is speaking out for a second time to FOX40, this time to defend himself after he said an earlier report this week, defamed his character.

“I was pretty hurt … My reputation was really damaged by a crew that would come to our church steps and find the most extreme person,” McFalls said. “She asked me to do an exorcism, and when I said I wasn’t free to exorcise her at that time she said that she was going to take it farther … I want to pray for her. I’ve known her for years.”

We first met Father McFalls Tuesday, after news broke that the Catholic priest was becoming a dad. McFalls stepped down as soon as he broke the news to his congregation.

In spite of the controversy, however, many of his former parishioners have come to his defense.

“I’ve had a rough couple of years, and he has been over to my home many times just with a call to say prayers with my family and children,” said Terri Lomeli, a parishioner.

Longtime parishioners who support Father McFalls said his friendly disposition may be perceived by outsiders as flirtatious.

“He’s a very friendly man and everyone thinks that he’s their best friend. So, you can misconstrue that,” said Cathleen Cavanaugh, a longtime parishioner.

Today was a very special day for the father, as it’s the feast day of the arch angels Gabriel, Michael and Rafael – a great significance because his son was born Saturday. McFalls has named him Gabriel.
