Two Dead After Plane Crashes Near Auburn

Two people were found dead inside a single engine plane after it crashed east of the Auburn Municipal Airport around 3 a.m. Sunday morning.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Department took a call from the California Office of Emergency Services asking for help in locating a possible downed plane.  With the help of CHP, deputies were able to find the crash site.  The plane was found badly damaged in the trees.

There is no word on why the plane crashed or who the deceased occupants are.  The Placer County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate.
