TWIN BRIDGES –

The Sunday storm that brought rain to portions of the Valley also brought periods of steady snow to the Sierra.

FOX40 traveled up U.S 50 Sunday afternoon to Sierra at Tahoe. Caltrans set up an eastbound chain control checkpoint at Twin Bridges in the late afternoon. Drivers without chains or four-wheel-drive were told to turn around. Conditions were slick near the summit. One driver in a four-wheel-drive SUV without chains lost traction and slid into a tree. He was not injured.

Inside the lodge at Sierra at Tahoe, skiers and snowboarders watched the Super Bowl after the chairlifts closed. They were happy with the few inches of fresh powder that fell on Sunday, and were looking forward to more. The forecast calls for chances of snow again on Monday.
