Tuesday’s strong winds may have messed up your hair or pushed your car around on the highway but in Loomis, the Binder family nearly lost their home.

tree downRecent rains loosened the ground around a 100-year-old oak and after a blustery shove from Mother Nature, it fell.

“I was in the living room area, heard a thunderous ‘crash, bang, boom.’ And I looked out the front door and I ran out and slipped and fell on the deck and tried to get it of the way,” Miles Binder Sr. said about the scene on Junewood Lane.

No one else was home and Mike Binder wasn’t hurt as the oak crumpled and another tree above his roof split.

His family’s only lived in the home for six months.

The tree incident comes just two days after his son survived a serious car crash so the Binders are feeling very lucky to all be alive.
